Hearing Diagnosis Adults

A diagnostic assessment is more comprehensive than a standard hearing check from your large chain optometry or hearing company.

Our specialised hearing test procedure includes

  • An initial understanding of your hearing concerns, history, and any medical conditions which may contribute to your ear health.
  • Thorough examination of your ears and canals to ensure no abnormalities are present.
  • Audible threshold assessment with air and bone conduction under headphones
  • Speech tests to assess a person’s ability to hear/interpret simple words.
  • Tympanometry  is a non-invasive test that assesses the health and function of the middle ear
  • If an audiological report is required for your GP or ENT this will be forwarded on apart of the assessment fees.

Hearing Diagnosis for Children

Similar to a hearing diagnostic test for adults, we try and make this assessment interactive, exciting and enjoyable for your child. This may involve raising their hand or clapping when they may hear a sound to identify their hearing thresholds. We will also have a detailed inspection of their ears and testing the middle ear function. A report may also be required to be sent to your GP or ENT.

We ask that your child is able to sit still and alert enough to complete the testing. Please inform us of the age of your child prior to arranging a booking.

Hearing Solutions

Hearing Specialists Gold Coast offer the latest in discreet hearing technology and accessories.

Our audiologists will recommend a solution based on your hearing loss, aesthetic preferences, lifestyle needs and budget to determine the best fit for you.

Devices come in different price points dependent on the features such as:  background noise reduction, sound quality, automation, wind and sudden noise reduction. The majority of subsidised hearing devices now contain the latest feature of smartphone streaming to selected compatible phones.

These may include devices which sit invisibly in your ear canals or a hearing solution which has a small portion which sits both behind and into the ear canal.

A range of additional accessories may be discussed for streaming the TV, overcoming background noise, or remote controls to regulate the sound yourself.

Tinnitus

A diagnostic assessment is more comprehensive than a standard hearing check from your large chain optometry or hearing company.

Wax Removal

Our trained Audiologist has been doing removing wax proficiently since 2010, initially using curettes under a head lamp and attached microscope but more recently via microsuctioning due to its efficiency and performance. We do not offer wax removal via water irrigation.

This is a short and relatively painless process completed in less than 20mins. The use of wax softening ear drops and or sprays is highly recommended a few days used prior to wax removal bookings. Exception for those with perforated ear drums.  We offer microsuctioning to school aged children able to sit still for the entire procedure. Depending on the wax, this procedure may require the process to be repeated following additional wax softening drops.

Pre Employment Hearing Test

Our Audiologists are able to provide an indepth assessment of your hearing levels for your employer, CASA and or Audiometry assessment for fitness to driving with Austroads (Commercial, Heavy Vehicle or UBER requirements).
